This blog has nothing to do with gorillas (though I love 'em)...fellow bloggers have inspired me to share vintage images of Disneyland from my personal collection. But don't be surprised if you see something from a World's Fair, Knott's Berry Farm, or someplace else that is cool!

Hats, Hats, and More Hats
Here's a cool photo of Tomorrowland, circa 1960-something. Besides having great saturated colors and a nice gander at the Douglas Moonliner (and a glimpse of the Wenmac Flight Circle), we got yer hats. Lots and lots of 'em for sale at the Tomorrowland Hat Bar. I am not sure if this is the same souvenir stand that is pictured in the June 6 davelandblog...it looks kind of different. I love the pink and black (or is it dark blue?) sign. Your name free, is that still an option on hats at the park?
Major- This is a different hat stand than Daves. Daves was built in 1967 for the new Tomorrowland. And as far as I know the embroidery is still free, but now no longer done by hand but done by machine. One of my old co-workers husband claimed to be the best name sewer ever at Disneyland. And he was very upset when they changed from freehand to machine sewing.
ReplyDeleteOn the embroidery: the Mad Hatter has been changed to a computerized embroidery; the other hat stands are about to be converted but haven't just yet. So get your classic hats while you can, folks! Nice shot btw.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot! I've never noticed that sign (not having a hat fetish myself...) before now.
