A Birthday, And Some Randos

Hey! It's GDB friend MS's birthday! And you know what that means - Sue B. found another great vintage birthday photo to share. I'm worried about the boy at the end of the table, he's trying to blow up that balloon, but it looks like the balloon is stronger. Will his little brother do any better? That's a pretty low bar. Mom is wearing a party hat, but is thinking about wearing another one. When else will she have the chance? NEVER! It's exciting to see that there is an actual Van Gogh "Sunflowers" painting on the wall, bought at a thrift shop for only $2. Smurf cups, plates, and a table cloth assure us that this will be the party to end all parties.

Meanwhile, howsabout some randos? From July, 1960 comes this photo of three young girls posing in front of Storybook Land with the Piper Pig and the Practical Pig. All three girls wear the same style of souvenir hat, though one has gone rogue and went with the blue scarf rather than the red one.

Next, from June 22, 1965 we have this nice view of the Indian Dance Circle as seen from the new-ish amphitheater-style seating; obviously the crowds could be considerable on a Summer day. Younger children were still encouraged to come down and sit on benches nearer to the action. On the river, two Canoes embark on their journey through a very convincing Frontier.

Happy Birthday MS-! I hope your birthday party chose the E-Z Blo balloons to avoid both exhaustion and embarrassment.

Major-
Mom is sending that hat over to 'Bud', as wearing the party hat will increase his lung power - since the image is flopped, he will need all the help he can get.

STORY BOOK LAND... make no mistake about it.

Thanks to Sue and The Major.

It's MS's birthday! What a coincidence, today is my UNbirthday! Happy birthday, MS.

Whoa! At first I thought that the genuine Van Gogh "Sunflowers" painting was one of the rare mirror-image examples. Only two(2) are known to exist! But then I (and Nanook) realized that the image is flipped, and it's just a regular unflipped genuine Van Gogh. Which, as we know, are a dime a dozen.... Oh well.
Big brother sure looks like he's in pain. I bet blood squirted out of his eyes! There are no candles on the cake so I can't tell who the birthday boy is. Probably the little guy, judging from the decorations. I tried reading the name on the cake; it looks like it might be "Mike".
Thanks to Sue for organizing the birthday party.

The Pigs look a little awkward sitting on that bench. I wonder if the two older girls are twins? Practical Pig has a pink carnation (?) in his hand (Hoof? Front foot?) Probably fake, or maybe animatronic. As Nanook noted, this was back in the era when we had "Story Book Land"; three words. Hey, where's the Fiddler Pig? Maybe he's taking the photo.

This is a really nice view of the Dance Circle. The three 'Eagle' dancers are in an interesting action pose, which adds excitement to the picture. And we can see all of the colorful feather decorations on the poles. Usually we only see a couple of them.

Nice Randos, Major. Thanks.
