Personal Viewmasters - Nature's Wonderland

How about some more images from some vintage personal Viewmaster reels? OK!

We're all about the Mine Train Through Nature's Wonderland this time. Imagine you are sitting in one of those bright yellow open-air mine cars, passing by the cooling mist of that waterfall, enjoying the smell of pine trees, and listening to the famous ride spiel.

Here's a neat view through a tunnel and out to the trestle bridge that spanned the river through Bear Country. If only it was "Bare Country", this ride would still be around.

These elk aren't battling, they just can't get their antlers untangled It's like one of those Chinese dexterity puzzles. And you know how men are, they refuse to ask for help. Somebody get a hacksaw.

This area was called The Living Desert because those rock-like formations were actually made of living pulsating flesh. I admit that it was kind of weird. And yet it managed to remain family-friendly.

Stay tuned for more personal Viewmasters!

Imagining images 1, 2, and 4 in 3-D.

Any chance of seeing these in "Wiggle Vision," particularly "Bare Country?"

Tee Heee... "made of living pulsating flesh" I love it when you've been working to hard over the images or up too late and you commentary gets all spooky :)

Bare country was a rare occasional thing. It was known to usually occur on Grad Nites and mostly on the longer dark rides. ;-)

If the rock-like formations were made of living pulsating flesh, then I wonder what the bubbling pots and geysers were made of?

I remember once when the living desert had the chicken pox. Guests were encouraged to bring big bottles of Calamine lotion to help.

Chuck, unfortunately I only scanned one of the images, and have since returned the Viewmasters to their owner. Sorry about that!

EJPcreations, sometimes it is just a matter of thinking of something to write when I've already written about it a hundred times.

Alonzo, I wonder how adventurous some of those Grad Nite people were. Just how daring did they get when it came to trespassing?

K. Martinez, you had to go there?! ;-)

Tom, I don't know how much Calamine lotion helps chicken pox, but it sure doesn't do much when you have had the misfortune to walk through some poison oak! In fact it doesn't seem to do ANYTHING.

If they ever bring back the Mine Train, they should get you to write the script. I'll be happy to supply the grizzled prospector voice. Hacksaws indeed!
