It's time for more photos from not-so-long-ago... the summer of 1995. A mere 17 years ago! For some reason the color on these (scanned from vintage negatives) is just a little bit funky, but I'm sure we can all deal with it.
Let's start with this terrific picture of the C.K. Holliday. I love the little locomotives of the Disneyland Railroad, look how this one gleams. Are there any fanatics who might know the names of the two fellows inside the cab? A long shot, I realize...
Notice the sign heralding "40 Years of Adventure"; 1995 was Disneyland's 40th anniversary, and at first I thought that the use of the Indiana Jones font was a tacky choice - but then realized that the "Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Forbidden Eye" had debuted in March of that year. Obviously it was a big deal!
Good old Town Square still looks pretty nice. It's always great to see the Chemical Wagon on display outside the Firehouse. And who doesn't love the Omnibus?
Looking down Main Street U.S.A, we can see a typical summer crowd. Hey, I've seen worse! I'll bet a lot of those folks were heading right over to Adventureland for their very first "Indy" experience.
Did I just say that it was a busy day? Because it sure doesn't appear so in this picture, taken at the hub. There's a cheerful yellow Horseless Carriage. I'm so used to much more vintage shots of Disneyland that it is downright odd to see Space Mountain looming in the distance!
