Two From June 1968

Good old Fantasyland! The photographer obviously wanted to include that bouquet of colorful Mickey-ear balloons in the shot, and I don't blame him. You also get some choice people-watching, and part of the Carrousel and Merlin's Magic Shop. In the background, the Skyway and the Mad Hatter shop.

The old-timey popcorn stands always made for a good photo opportunity. Any excuse to get a picture of corn in its many forms, I guess. The lady in green confirms one of Nostradamus' predictions: ".... and women shall wear flat hats made of dried stalks of grasse and say '23 Skiddoo'". Man, he was good!

I love that Fantasyland shot! I'll take a luft balloon, please. Actually, I'll take 99 of them. What's with the dirty cement in front of the popcorn wagon? Is that gum on the ground?

Cool shots, from the look of the lady in the lower left (picture one)the B52's were performing that night. ha ha

Wow, 15cents for popcorn. I known gate admission has gone up 700% in the last 30 yrs(based on inflation dollars). What's that come out to now? The guy is saying "here's a buck, set em all up buddy".

Sorry B-52 sighting lower right, my bad.

Chiana, it is true, a bright sunshiny photo makes all the difference.

TokyoMagic!, I was just watching an episode of "Community" in which the main character taunts some obnoxious German students by calling them "luftballoons". I don't know what that mess is on the ground, but it is the happiest mess on Earth.

Alonzo, I get a kick out of seeing the ladies with their foot-high hairdos. And my Inflation Calculator says that 15 cents in 1968 is the same as one dollar today. I'll bet popcorn costs a lot more than a dollar! BTW, I am always writing "left" when I mean "right", or vice-versa.

I never tire of seeing original Fantasyland images. And there's the original blue and white striped color scheme of King Arthur's Carousel. Awesome!

Does anyone know how many different color schemes the carousel has had through the years? I know it was changed a few years before New Fantasyland was built and has changed several times since then.

While Martha and Eunice showed off in front of the popcorn vendor -those Woolworth outfits are the cats meow- George proved that walking down the cat walk in Home Ec was not a wasted class credit.
