Disneyland Wardrobe Department

It's time for another post featuring vintage photos from the Disneyland Wardrobe Department! All of today's photos are from 1966, and as always, were scanned, cleaned up, and shared by GDB reader Huck.

There's Snow White, looking exceptionally glamorous in her red cape. Not long ago I mentioned that I didn't remember ever seeing Snow in a cape, and here is proof that I am suffering from dementia.

Here's a Jungle Cruise cast member outfit that is pretty awesome. I'd wear this on a sunny weekend! I wonder if the Skippers dressed like this, or if this was something that the guys who worked on the dock wore. I'll bet lawyers got rid of flip-flops long ago!

Some of you may remember this cutie from the Lost and Found a few weeks ago; well she's back, looking stylish in her Tyrolean-themed "Matterhorn" outfit.

Oh yes, Huck has lots more Wardrobe Dept. stuff for you!

  1. How lucky can I get. Outfits from my top two favorite attractions; Jungle Cruise and Matterhorn Bobsleds.

I take it Snow White's not operating any attraction with that cape on.

These are the coolest wardrobe pics I've seen yet. Much thanks as always Huck! And thank you for posting these Major.

That is a Snow White's Adventures ride operator's costume but entertainment used a very similar outfit at the time, if not the exact same one. I'll bet Mike Cozart will know! Thanks for the great post, Major.

  3. That hairdo isn't very Snow Whit-ish!

I would totally wear that shirt in the second pic.

  4. While I wouldn't cut so rakish an image as that gentleman does, I'd sport that Jungle Cruise setup too! :D

  5. K. Martinez, I think the Jungle Cruise and Matterhorn are a LOT of people's favorites!

Anon, I do have a photo of a Snow White out and about wearing the long red cape, but since it is from the back, I can't see if anything else is the same.

TM!, You're right, the hair is way too long! I didn't even notice.

Chiana, I think I'd wear the Jungle Cruise outfit MINUS the geeky white t-shirt.

  6. That Jungle Cruise outfit is pretty keen. You could catch almost any gay man (and a few "I'm-comfortable-in-my-sexuality" straight men) these days wearing this get-up.

Speaking of flip-flops, I heard that DL dos not like its guests wearing them, but cannot really do anything about it (I very rarely wear regular shoes when I go there, even in winter I'm in flip-flops). Any know about that?

  7. I am the opposite, David. I wont go without shoes, even in my house!

It always makes me nervous to see people wearing thongs (as we called them back in the 60s and 70s) to any amusement park. I do admit, tho, that I have worn them a few times when my feet just could not take the rubbing on my blisters another day; walking that much for 6 or 7 days in a row at Walt Disney World is the ONLY part of taking my vacation that I dont like aside from the obvious, which is having to leave :*/

I like all of these outfits, I would wear 'em for sure!!

  8. Her dress says Snow White, but her eyebrows say Wicked Queen.

  9. wow Jungle cruise cast member shirt and hat are great. I'd wear them (I guess I'm comfortable in my masculinity). Can't stand wearing thongs, yeah I'm old born the year these pictures were taken, and I like my pants longer and my shorts shorter. ( and around my waste not my knees,) did I mention I'm old. Pull up your pants, and your feet when you walk.
