Garden & Waterfall

Here's an unusual look at the underside of the Monsanto House of the Future (from 1963). There's something about the waterfalls and pools under the house that is vaguely reminiscent of Frank Lloyd Wright's "Fallingwater" in Pennsylvania. Or am I just nuts? ;-)

Of course the house was removed in 1967, and the King Triton fountain (what's he doing in Tomorrowland?) was placed in the remaining pools.

I've never seen that before. I didn't even know they existed! Very, very cool.

Hey Major Pepperidge- the pools were there for many years from 1967 until about 1996 or so. Then Disneyland rebuilt the entire area to add King Tritons water park with squirting fountains. I used to walk by the fountains and picture the Home of the Future sitting there. It was a great piece of park archeology that was destroyed by a cheap tie in to a popular modern Disney film. I agree that the theme does not work in Tomorrowland.

Thanks for the info, I guess my "facts" were a bit out of date! I'm not crazy about the King Triton fountain, especially when it is not even working most of the time!

Wow!!!! Amazing shot... I've never seen a detail of the underside of the house like that before... And I agree with you - it is similar to Falling Water.
