We all remember the Blues song, "Too Many Blurzles", from the 1930s. I'll pause while you put your scratchy 78 rpm disc (with an RCA "Bluebird" label) on your Victrola to give it another listen. Be sure to use a fresh stylus!
There, now you're ready to view some Blurzles, of which I have (no surprise) too many. But the Blues is all about dealing with life's misfortunes. Let's begin with this scan of a photo looking northward from Town Square; the Wurlitzer store is to our right, I like to go inside and show off my chops, playing Gershwin, or maybe Rachmaninoff on a rinky-dink electric organ. "He's a genius! We are lucky to be in his presence!". Main Street is practically deserted in March, Grandma and the kids will have an amazing time.
There is a lot of stuff packed into this corner of Fantasyland, the old Pirate Ship, the Skyway overhead, Casey Jr.'s ticket booth (and the Storybook Land lighthouse in the distance), along with Dumbo, he and his indentical siblings love nothing more than flying around and around in circles.
I'm still in the sanitorium... I mean, on vacation!

So, in an attempt at 'putting lipstick on a pig', you're saying your "playing chops" cleared Main Street-?? Hmmmmm....
Thanks, Major.
Everything looks all tangled-up in that second image.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Major.
Nanook — Ha!
ReplyDeleteWe all remember the Blues song, "Too Many Blurzles".....
ReplyDeleteAwww, I bet Melissa could give us lyrics for a song like that. I hope she has been continuing to improve. We still miss you, Melissa!
Thanks, Major!
^ I second that emotion.
ReplyDeleteIn the Wurlitzer shop, I would be playing Mozart's "Chopsticks". (Amadeus did compose it, although I don't think he called it that.)
The reason Main Street is almost deserted is because everything is so blurry! Who wants to plunk down an exorbitant entrance fee to the Park (a buck, twenty-five!), only to find that you can't see anything clearly?! I wonder if Steve Martin is working in the Magic Shop?... Oh wait, he worked at the other Magic Shop, didn't he? I see quite a few blurry trashcans, but I only count trashcans that aren't blurry... I'm an elitist.
This woulda, coulda, shoulda been a nice colorful action shot, except for Old Man Blur (you kids get off my lawn!). Actually, parts of the photo are in focus: the three most distant Dumbi and the orange Skyway bucket. See, this is why the Main Steeet pic was so empty; nobody wants to see a blurry Dumbo!
Thanks, Major. (I was gonna write that in a blurry font, but I don't know how.)
These photos would be crystal clear with a little Melissa this morning. Hope you’re continuing to improve, young lady. We miss you terribly.
ReplyDeleteYes, please come back to us, Melissa, we miss you!
ReplyDeleteBlurry or not, these pics are good for trash can hunting! I believe I can see eight in photo 1 and three more (of the blue striped variety) in photo 2.
Wouldn’t it be wonderful to walk down that street called straight, and head over to the elephants that go only in circles? What a wonderful place, Major!
Thank you! I hope your electroshock therapy goes smoothly!

When I think of Main St. Disneyland, USA...I think of WURLITZER! It seems when I was a kid, many people had these organs in their houses, which I was entranced by because they made sounds of other instruments. Like MAGIC! All we had was a grand piano. Wah! Organs kind of give me a creepy vibe...maybe it's a haunted house kind of thing...but looking back at that sentence, the sentence gives me a creepy vibe. Moving on to: Trees on the street that don't have scale, and a Charlie Murray movie playing...who? He appeared in almost 300 films...into talkies, and I did enjoy a short rabbit hole with his quote: "I’ve been working in pictures now for twelve years and the nearest I ever got to being a star was when I played a policeman, and had to wear one." That was in 1924, and his last film was in 1938. He has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, as does Steve Gutenberg (?) and there ya go....moving on to Dumbo...what an endearing ride...everyone wants to go...even me...I think it's a missed opportunity to have a Dumbo ride with about a hundred Dumbos at many levels of entry...kind of like if Dumbo and the Rocket Jets had a love child. Well....I think it would be cool, and would solve a lot of capacity issues. Enjoy your trip Major!
