Snoozles™

It will be no mystery as to why today's scans fall into the "Snoozles™" category. The most controversial category of all?? "Colliers" magazine wrote a piece about it, and Colliers hasn't even been in print since 1957! The article was titled, "Are Snoozles™ Corrupting Today's Youth?". The answer is YES.

Yeesh, this one is pretty lousy. It's the familiar African Veldt tableau, which always reminds me of the scene in "The Lion King", where all the animals gather at Pride Rock to see baby Simba. Only the Jungle Cruise has some lions munching on a dead zebra. Maybe the other animals are just glad it isn't them on the menu? "I never liked Zoltan anyway".

From a different lot we get this "meh" look at Castle Rock, an incredible natural rock formation caused by tectonic forces, erosion, and bugs. Seeing this image make me have the overwhelming desire to plant a Yippee flag at the top and be a general annoyance (more than usual, I mean).

Wellll, we've got a pretty nice picture of the zebra on the right. And those spiky orange flowers are rather striking. [JB is trying mightily to make lemonade out of dead zebra pee.] But yes, this one is a Snoozle. The lighting looks like a near total solar eclipse. And the focus is kinda soft and squishy. But other than that!

More soft, squishy focus. But this one is quite decent! Good lighting. Cascade Peak in the background. A nice angle of Castle Rock. I thought maybe I could see the bighorn sheep on Cascade Peak, but alas, they're just trees/shrubs. Or maybe they're rabbits, looking big because of the forced perspective.

Interesting that we can't see any of the rivers in these two pics. Thanks, Major.

I don't think the lions are really "munching" on Zoltan. I think they are just watching over him while he sleeps.

Well, if they are you can’t blame the lions . Zebra is delicious. The problem is deciding what is best? White meat? Dark meat? White meat ? Dark meat?……..

Rats, Mike beat me to it… (shakes tiny fist)

Let’s face facts, Major. The Jungle Cruise is probably the hardest outdoor attraction to photograph, so this one isn’t so bad. I am curious about those orange (not yellow) blossoms. I don’t recall seeing those before. I do enjoy seeing the buzzards too, straight out of Jungle Book.

Photo 2 is a fine view of Castle Rock, makes me want to jump right in and run around for an hour until I hit my head on the rocks and start crying. The blurred focus is me seeing it through tears. Now I want a churro.

Thanks Major!

Castle Rock with Cascade Peak and its waterfalls in the background, yay! What if Castle Rock had waterfalls? What if they let you run around Cascade Peak? These ideas are from thr Dr Seuss book "If I Ran the Disneyland".

As a kid, it occurred to me DL had three main castles... Sleeping Beay, Cinderella, and Rock. Maybe there were even more, big or small. ooh ... the castle at the hotel mini golf, but that doesn't count.

Nice snoozles!

JB, if I wanted a good photo of a zebra, I would subscribe to “Zebra Fancier”! But I’m no weirdo! I appreciate that you are looking for the silver lining, though. It’s there, but it is very thin. Microns. I think this is the first mention of dead zebra pee, so I will mark that in my journal. I forgot to say when these slides were taken, but it was sometime in the 1970s, so the bighorn sheep were long-gone by that time. Unless other teenage bighorn sheep snuck up there to make me look bad. This is why I’ve always hated them! Bighorn sheep I mean. Those dumb horns. Why don’t they have antlers like nice animals?

TokyoMagic!, I don't think the lions are really "munching" on Zoltan. I think they are just watching over him while he sleeps. … why not both?

Mike Cozart, is that a Jungle Cruise skipper gag?

JG, considering just how many photos I have of the Jungle Cruise, and how few of them are worth a darn, you would be right about how hard it is to photograph. I was hoping that I would recognize those orange flowers, but no such luck. I don’t know WHY I thought I would know what they were, since I know something like six kinds of flowers. Those buzzards in The Jungle Book, with their (terrible) “Liverpudlian” accents are such an artifact of their time. I guess I’ve seen many better photos of Castle Rock, so I get critical when one comes along that is “just fine”!

Those bright orange blossoms are from the rare Anheuser Bush ….. you can tell because it has a few BUDS.

Those bright orange blossoms are HIBISCUS …. And the ones closer to the water are LOW-BISCUS…..
