Today is just one of those days, you know? And by that I mean it's Sunday - the day when I post photos that might not even be worth looking at. They might disappoint you. They might even disgust you! You have been warned.
Gosh, we haven't seen a photo of "It's a Small World" on GDB for about 15 minutes, so it's high time. Is this the real thing, or is it a highly detailed foam core model? I'll never tell (although I am open to bribes).
Now we're aboard the Skyway, headed toward Fantasyland. Wouldn't it have been super cool if they had cranked up the speed so that the gondolas traveled at about 50 miles per hour? Yes, it would have. This photo gets 3 additional points (basically 3 S&H Green Stamps) because of a bobsled sighting.
Wait a second. Wait a gol-durned second! Do you see the scary clown face above the tunnels?!
There, I've zoomed in for a better look. No Photoshop trickery here - it's none other than Pennywise, the dancing clown!
* Hi folks, while I am out of town today, I should be back by tonight - or possibly tomorrow.
Major-
ReplyDeleteI think that 'clown' better-resembles 'Chucko, The Birthday Clown'.
Thanks, Major.
I see the scary clown face. I also see a few other possible faces among the rockwork. I'm going to bed now. I hope I don't have nightmares.
ReplyDeleteHas it been 15 miutes already? One of the so called improvements at Disneyland that I actually liked, was the new gondola design on the Skyway. I think they were more futuristic looking and definately cooler. My gran used to collect Green Stamps and she would have been all over Major for those three extras. She had little books of 'em all over her kitchen. I think the clown looks more like Jimmy Durante. Thanks Major.
ReplyDeleteThose are actually the tears of a clown when there's no one around...
ReplyDeleteNice set to day as usual. Thanks, Major.
@ Ken-
ReplyDeleteSo, what you're saying is, the last time the clown cried was about 20 years ago-??
@Ken Now you have done it, I can't get Smokey out of my head. Love the song though!
ReplyDeleteI thought it was a ghost pirate that provided a safety spiel.
ReplyDeleteNow that I have seen that face, I will never be able to un-see it.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot of IASW, really emphasizes the flat aspect of the facade.
What are those odd looking items under the monorail track? Are those columns for an IASW-themed structure? Upended kayaks?. Seems like this was about where the Disney Navy Yards sign was posted at some point.
Thanks Major, fun pics today.

JG, those things under the monorail track are part of a continuation of the IASW facade. The facade had "wings" that extended beyond the train tracks on both sides of the structure, and the east side "wing" even had a detached section on the other side of the service/parade gate and ran along the northwestern corner of the Motor Boat waterway. That wing has been either altered, shortened or eliminated recently. I haven't seen it in person, but the pics online show that they moved that parade gate to the south a bit so they could make an extended queue for the attraction. Part of the wing on the west side of the facade was chopped off years ago, for the addition of the tunnel leading to Toontown.
