It's time for more "Adventures In Restoration", brought to you by the American Celery Group. Celery: it's what's for dinner.
The original Fantasyland was the most "Disney" of all the lands, according to a Gallup poll that I just made up. All of your favorite cartoon characters lived there (unless you liked Woody Woodpecker, in which case I can do nothing to help).
Don't look at that pinky-orange version, look at this new, improved version! You can practically feel your eyeballs relaxing. There's so much going on in this photo; the Mad Tea Party, King Arthur's Carrousel, and Snow White's Scary Adventures, and the Welch's Grape Juice stand has been thrown in for one low, low price. Let's make up little stories about the people!
Cinderella's Castle predated the more famous version in Florida by 15 years. I sure have a lot of pictures of it.
The rosy hues of the setting sun make the rocky promontory glow. I was going to say it glowed pinkly, but "pinkly" isn't a word. Don't you think it should be, though? It looks as if the pumpkin coach isn't on the stony path. Bummer.

Major-
Any Fantasyland image inclusive of the Welch's Juice Bar is always a winner in my book-! I see we have both a babushka & black socks w/Bermuda shorts alert.
As for that elusive pumpkin coach, it was Free Hot Wax day at the local pumpkin coach wash, so undoubtedly that's why it's missing from this shot.
Major - again, thanks for the yeoman efforts in all this color restoration work.
Well that's just nothing short of lovely restoration work today, Major. And as for Pinkly: well at least Donald Sutherland's character in The Dirty Dozen (1967) was named Pinkley, so they're working on it for you.
I was at the Park Wednesday and found myself unconsciously expecting to see things as they appear in these posts. It honestly took me a second to figure out what happened to the old mill at the end of Tom Sawyer's Island. Strange.
Nanook, obviously these images have set the internet on FIRE! I can't find the person who is wearing a babushka, black socks, and Bermuda shorts. You'd think that lazy Fairy Godmother could just wave her wand to spiff up the pumpkin coach, but no, she's off watching "TMZ".
I don't know for Cinderella's Castleses, but the large castle in Florida us benonenclatured Cinderella Castle, unapostrophetically speaking. Now that I've had my RDA of pointless pedantry, I'm off to pour a second cup of coffee down my neck and actually look at the pretty pictures!
Another excellent job of wielding your color-correction wand, Major!
Your chromatic coaxings continue to collapse our credulity.
I read recently that celery requires more calories to digest than it contains, and so is a perfect diet food. It's like exercising while you sleep. Three cheers for the American Celery Association.
While people-watching in that crowd is fascinating and handing out fashion-police citations is deeply satisfying (pulls up black socks), I think the sunset-tinged photo of Cinderella's castle is one of the best renditions of this familiar scene.
Major, you are a color-correction wizard. I vote you to receive a lifetime award of all the celery you can eat and a pumpkin coach wash, wax and detail weekly.

Funny how the Snow White dark ride marquee says "Snow White and Her Adventures" when it's listed as "Snow White's Adventures" in the old guide books and later on as "Snow White's Scary Adventures" for the New Fantasyland.
Welch's Juice Bar being included in today's post makes my day. I loved that place.
Maybe these photos were bathed in Welch's hybrid pinky-orange grape juice. Thanks, Major.
@ Melissa-
A friend and former Marketing department elf, at both Disneyland & WDW would say: The namesakes of the island, castle(s) and carrousel(s) do not own them. Hence, the correct terminology: Tom Sawyer Island; Sleeping Beauty Castle; King Arthur Carrousel, etc. And they are often referred to as "The Sleeping...", etc.Unlike their Fantasyland counterparts: Peter Pan's Flight; Snow White's Adventure - 'Scary', or otherwise; Mr. Toad's Wild Ride; Pinocchio's Daring Journey. Accuracies aside, there are countless examples of the possessive names scattered throughout the park, in brochures, on signage, both permanent and announcing upcoming attractions (or adventures) - sometimes close-enough to a second example where they disagree, that it seems to be a free-for-all. But if you're going for the gold, or merely that Golden Celery Award, take heed-!
To my knowledge Cinderella's Castle in Storybook Land was always referred to in the possessive form. (Go figure). Maybe the miniaturization had something to do with it.
And at that second gate at WDW, it's referred to thusly: Epcot Center; EPCOT.
That’s interesting about the parks nomenclature- it seems a bit loose but as Disneyland and Walt Disney Productions matures the name specifics become more stringent and refined.
I have a 1972 WED document issued to various departments announcing they have finally been able to copyright PEOPLEMOVER but it must be done as PeopleMover ( that P and M must be capitalized) so going forward the attraction must be referred to as “PeopleMover”
Check out the guy in the teacup, is he wearing a green Santa suit. It might just be a velour robe though. Maybe I need more coffee like Mellissa. These are great renditions of Fantasyland and Cinderella's Castle. Great job de-pinking them. That is the correct term, right? With pix like these, The Disneyland of yore lives on. I miss the Old Mill too. Thanks Major for the great depinkification (Spelling?)
Yeah, that does look like Johnny Mathis as Green Santa in the white teacup.
And that might be Pee-Wee Herman's Dad having a cigarette by the stripey trash can.
Oh wow, it is Pee-Wee! There is nothing more attractive than someone with a cig hanging out their mouth. But I guess everyone smoked in those days. Even Pee-Wee Herman.
The castle shot really is lovely. If I ever get shrunk down, Land of the Giants-style, I hope it's near Storybookland.
Of course, I might have to turn Cinderella's Castle into a real fortified castle to fend off the feral cats.
