Snoozer Sunday
Are you tired of looking at good pictures of Disneyland? Have you had it up to *here* with interesting images of rarely-photographed subjects? Do you argue with your spouse about "Which picture is better"? Well, I'm here to help! I have two really lame photos for you to solve all of your problems, and to bring World Peace to everybody.
Well whaddaya know, it's the FIV. That's "Friendly Indian Village" to you. As a kid I always thought that living in a teepee looked pretty fun, especially if it was in Frontierland. Sure, you have to scrape a few buffalo hides, but you also get to eat all the jerky you want. I wonder if they have vegan jerky?
This one was almost a reject, but ultimately I kind of liked the rosy sky and the barely-visible Toad Hall. From this angle, the Dumbo attraction seems like it is in the wrong place. Notice that "Fan 2" (?) is closed up.
I am reminded of Rene Magritte's "Empire of Light" paintings...

Major-
That FIV does look inviting. (There's still the Wigwam Motel).
And just for the record, make that "Fan 1".
And the "Empire of Light" paintings 'inspired' a certain Thomas Kinkade... Don't get me started.
Thanks, Major.
I like the second image. Great angle! You can see what I think is the maintenance shed which probably housed the Mine Trains. The reflection in the canal is a nice touch too. To top it all off there's also a dark green Skyway bucket camouflaged by the vegetation. Thanks, Major.
Is that also the volcanic rock work around Skull Rock Lagoon just left of the Skyway tower?
Time to start locking up the doors and windows before the sun sets and unspeakable things come out to play.
It's nice to have a quick refresher course from time to time in how Fantasyland was laid out and looked. Dumbo looks positively strange in its old location, since I've become used to its current site.
Nanook, there must be some sort of universal law, if I say “Fan 1” , it is really “Fan 2” and vice-versa.
K. Martinez, I was wondering what that structure was in photo #2, interesting that it is the storage for the Mine Trains.
K. Martinez again, it looks very igneous to me!
Chuck, you mean like… hipsters??
Patrick Devlin, yeah, it looks weird to see Dumbo way over there - feels wrong somehow.
Coming in late a day later. As for image 2...that's mostly the building which housed Rainbow Caverns. KS
Major, your introductory commentary is spot-on today. Photo 2 is especially eerie and the Magritte is most appropriate.
@Ken, yes, the rocks of Skull Rock cove are visible to the left, with a smidgen of green and white striped awning. This was the screen that hid the Casey tracks. I ate many a tunafish sandwich listening to the train go by above. These rocks were replaced by a tall hedge planting in the 1983 remodeling of Fantasyland.
The Casey ticket booth is still in approximately the same spot, but the queue has been moved to the west (right side in this pic).
Also, agreeing with Anonymous 01 (KS), the roof beyond is the Rainbow Caverns building, although there may have been other things inside as well.
