The first photo for today's Sunday post is very nice - taken on a beautiful June day, with bright sunshine and a lovely blue sky. Nanook has already seen it! Long story. With the little family in the foreground, it could almost be a picture right out of a souvenir guidebook.
Another photo, same day (apparently earlier...), same general location, but it isn't as pretty. Still... wouldn't it be nice to be there with nobody around?
Major-
ReplyDeleteWow-! It's déjà vu, all over again. No matter - it's well-worth a walk down memory lane. That first image is definitely guidebook-worthy. And the second one is just plain worthy. (Do I hear Rod Serling knocking-?)
Thanks, Major, for this blast from the past.
Not only is there no one around, but there's no fences keeping guests from the moat. Sometimes it's hard to fathom that this once existed.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots though. I've always said that May and June are the prettiest months at Disneyland.
Thanks, Major!
There's nothing like a shot of Sleeping Beauty Castle and the Matterhorn together in a single image. It's so iconic. It's definitely "pictorial souvenir" material. Thanks, Major.
ReplyDeleteYes, Mr Serling, we approve. Very nice!
ReplyDeleteWell there's my Sunday morning made! Just wunnerful, wunnerful! Notice the swan pen fencing under the bridge. At least I think that's what that is. I told you 'bout the swans, that they live in the park, didn't I?
ReplyDeleteNanook, your magical abilities gave you a glimpse of this post a week before anyone else (except me, of course)! By the way (you didn’t do this), I love it when people say “Rod STERLING”.
ReplyDeleteMedley, sometimes February or March will mean photos with beautiful puffy white clouds in the sky, but it is hard to beat a sunny May or June day!
K. Martinez, I’m going to produce my own vintage souvenir guidebook. Full of photos and fake information. “On odd-numbered days, the restrooms are open between 8 AM and 12 PM. On even-numbered days, they are closed”.
Scott Lane, I wonder if Rod ever went to Disneyland!
Patrick Devlin, now I imagine the sound of cheesy polka music playing in the background. Swan Penn is one of our finest actors, I think you’ll agree.
No such thing as a picture of Sleeping Beauty castle that isn't absolutely Charming! It was June when I went to Disneyland, and it was certainly magical weather. Certainly better than Florida at the same time of year!
ReplyDeleteMelissa, now I have a new challenge - to find the LEAST charming photo of Sleeping Beauty Castle. June can be a great time to go to Disneyland, the most brutal summer heat usually doesn't hit until later. Usually.
ReplyDeleteSadly, I think all of the trees seen here are long gone... But, I think they were still there in '93-'96 when I returned as a young adult with my own-Kiddos. 'We' enjoyed the Plaza Gardens area a lot as it gave the younger ones a place to run around and be free (without a million people around) while we waited for the older kids to rendezvous with us parents after they went on Space Mountain or whatever..
ReplyDeleteVery good times.
We even enjoyed the Peoplemover together...and what a great break that was.
Really liking these, thank you Major.
