Sure, these photos look blurry, but maybe it's just you. I remember when I needed glasses, but then I had those new bionic eyes installed (you can really save if you buy them at Costco). I spent a little extra for the laser add-on, so that I can incinerate people who annoy me. Now life is pretty much perfect!
There are plenty of empty teacups, so... no waiting.
Back in the 50's, Dumbo managed to break a new air speed record just about every six months. This historic photo shows him exceeding Mach 2 for the first time. Eventually the tremendous friction of the atmosphere caused so much heat that Dumbo had to slow it down. But deep down inside he still has that need for speed.
Major-
ReplyDeleteFINALLY - the truth can be told as to the real reason the ears of each Dumbo ceased 'flapping'-! I always knew somehow friction was the culprit. (I guess my high school physics teacher was correct after all: That "stuff" he was teaching causing severe eye-rolling really IS important). Who knew-??
And, hey - what's with all those empty Teacups-??!! Don't folks know the faster you spin them the richer you become-?? I hope I'm not revealing any secrets...
Thanks, Major.
These pics may be a little blah but nothing a futuristic, P.D.Q. Bach-playing oom-pah band or two wouldn't cure.
ReplyDelete...and...
Gee, I just saw two big, black SUV's full of men in dark suits and dark sunglasses speed by headed towards Nanook's house.
Strangely, both vehicles had the same licence plate: "YENSID".
Where's little Timothy?
ReplyDelete@ TM!-
ReplyDeleteHe melted due to excessive friction. Drat-!
Nice catch there, TokyoMagic. Some quick image searching shows other shots without the little rodent. There's also no spiral candy-striping on the arms. Can I get a KickStarter program going to write a really comprehensive book on the history every Disneyland attraction? No, no, I mean really comprehensive...
ReplyDelete@Patrick- Sure! Go for it! Just let us know the deliverables and expected completion date and I'm there.
ReplyDeleteIt seems the spiral candy-striped arms didn't appear until 1956 a year before Timothy climbed atop the disco ball with his whip in 1957. At least that's what I speculate from the dated photos of Daveland's wonderful Disneyland Photo Archive.
Today's not blah at all! Thanks, Major.
Nanook, at last, proof that high school is not a total waste of time! I wish that thing about the fast-spinning teacups was true… I always like to spin those things until my arms ache.
ReplyDeleteKenneth Lane, I hope those men in dark suits don’t show up to your home. Then again, if they do, you won’t remember it anyway!
TokyoMagic!, Timothy was not there in the earliest months/years. There are even some postcards a mirror ball but no Timothy.
Nanook, no! Timothy mouse is one of my favorite characters. He was drinking more of that “Pink Elephants” water.
Patrick Devlin, oh man, if only somebody would do that comprehensive book! I would buy it in a heartbeat. I wonder if the archives would be willing to open their vaults if such a project materialized. It would be amazing!
K. Martinez, if you donate $500 you will get a hearty handshake and a coupon for a free car wash.
Remember what, Major?
ReplyDeleteNothing went on dontspintheteacups here today. Nothing dontspintheteacups at all.
Nanook, melted? Oh, what a world, what a world!
