Meh, I tell you, MEH!

I am embarrassed and ashamed to present three extremely "MEH" photos for you today. It's Sunday, so you know the drill.

First I am using up the last two pictures from an August 1970 parade. To our left we can see Honest John and Gideon, as well as Tigger. The horseless carriage barely contains a group of musicians, possibly the Strawhatters.

There's not much to say about this one, except that Bre'r Bear is passing by.

This next one is from 1956, and was kind of blurry, but the "Smart Sharpen" Photoshop filter did a pretty decent job of making this almost acceptably crisp. I believe that the windmills we see here were replaced with the town of Arendelle from "Frozen".

  1. The 3rd pic is actually pretty cool. Check out the camel back hill with track conforming to the terrain to the right of Cinderella's Castle. Should've been a roller coaster! And of course there are a couple of my favorite things on the horizon. Thanks, Major.

  2. Major-

I see Ken has beaten me to the thrills provided by the 3rd image. One man's "meh" is another man's... hmmmm. Oh well.

    Thanks, Major.

  3. The filter worked well, you'd never know it was blurry. (then again, maybe my eyes are just correspondingly blurry. It is early on a Sunday morning)

And isn't that the "I think I can" hill in the background?

Disney must have thought the same thing as Ken. They make Casey Jr. a roller coaster at Disneyland Paris.

What's that silver can in the bushes just above the bit of walkway wall in front of the photographer?

  5. K. Martinez, yes, of all of the images, the third one is the only example worth looking at. Thanks, Photoshop “Smart Sharpen”! While I kind of like the idea of Casey Jr. as a little roller coaster, in the end I like that it chugs along slowly so that we can enjoy the scenery for longer.

Nanook, one of my “never noticed before” details are those tiny bridges along the wall that is along the waterfront. Very cute!

Kenneth Lane, the filter worked pretty well this time. On occasion you’ll wind up with weird grainy artifacts or “wormy” looking edges. I believe that that is the “I think I can” hill!

Dean Finder, Richfield released a comic book for the opening of Disneyland (maybe I need to scan it!) that shows Case Jr. as a roller coaster. I think that silver can might be a lighting fixture (?).

  6. @Major, Nah! I want Casey Jr. to be a roller coaster with a double-loop and corkscrew. And while were at it, let's replace the miniature Pinocchio Village with a miniature Ewok Village and rename one of the canal boats "Princess Leia".

  7. I like the second picture, which I am calling "Portrait of Young Admirerer". Everyone else is looking forward to someone else in the parade, but the young lady with white glasses, as seen through the parting crowd, thinks Br'er Bear is practically the bee's knees!

  8. Yeah the third pic is actually quite nice. Amazing what a sharpening filter can do. Nice composition.

Short of discovering a time machine Major, your site is the next best thing to getting us back to 1956. Appreciate your dedication.
