Today I am sharing three very "Blah" photos from a parade, circa 1970. Whoever took the pictures did a terrible job! Sorry, person from 45 years ago, but you know it's true.
Here's the backs of a lot of heads, including Mickey Mouse's noggin. Guess what? He doesn't look that great from the back! Notice his secret service goons, prepared to pounce on any hippies, yippies, pinkos, or commies.
The Disneyland Band just passed by, followed by Balloo the Bear. He loves the sound of a marching band! If you ever wanted a good look at his neck, then this is your lucky day.
There goes Thumper! You don't see him at the park very often. And this photo at least gives us an OK view of the Plaza Inn.
There are two more from this lot, sorry!
Major-
ReplyDelete"The Parade of Blahs" - I thought that is to be part of the new Star Wars Rollout just announced as coming to a U.S. based Disney theme park near you. Isn't it supposed to be next to the Jedi Training Course-? Hmmmm.
Thanks, Major.
I love the vintage parades, but this one does seem a little snooze-y. We don't often get to see the Thumper character walking about, so that's a rare shot!
ReplyDeleteIn the first two images I can see the tip-top of the "Rocket Jets" Saturn V rocket. I do miss some of the older Disney characters at the Park like Baloo and Thumper. Thanks, Major.
ReplyDeleteAnd a yellow Peoplemover car in the first photo.
ReplyDeleteNanook, the “Parade of Blahs” can be many things to many people! I want Star Wars Land to be great, but even if it is, the crowds are going to keep me away. I need to turn in my “Disneyland Fanatic” card.
ReplyDeleteTokyoMagic!, the idea of waiting until the parade has passed one by before taking photos is just ridiculous. But that’s how some people roll! Yes, it was nice to see Thumper; I used to impress girls by drawing him - they loved him because he was so cute.
K. Martinez, you know things are desperate when we are happy to see even a tiny portion of some other more interesting attraction!!
MRaymond, maybe that is one of the Peoplemover cars that sold for over $450,000 recently!
Ha, ha....I was half asleep when I wrote my comment last night and now I see that what I said about Thumper was pretty much the same thing you said about him in your post! Oh well!
ReplyDeleteTokyoMagic!, sometimes I am half asleep when I write the posts, so I know what you mean!
ReplyDeleteNo less than seven still cameras and one movie camera in the first frame, and you had the bad luck of getting this roll instead. Ah, well...it could be worse; these could have been taken upside-down.
ReplyDeleteThere's something about this location, I've watched parades from almost this exact vantage many times, including my last viewing of the Electrical Parade, (although I did not know that it would be the last while it was happening).
ReplyDeleteThis parade seems to be going in the reverse direction from the ones I recall. Maybe that's the plan, though, since there is no backstage connection between the two staging areas, the early parade runs north-south and the later one runs south-north, or maybe the other way round...
Thanks Major, the pics are weak, but the memories they stir are strong.
