Frontierland Instamatics

It's time for "Major Pepperidge's Instamatic Corner"!

Any view of Cascade Peak, particularly with the Mine Train passing by, is welcome here on GDB. This one is a bit unusual in that it was taken from a Keel Boat!

Here's a busy popcorn vendor, located right along the Rivers of America. I hope he likes the sound of steam whistles and Dixieland music! If I ever went to "Dapper Day", I think I would like a getup like this one.

In the background we can see the still-unopened Haunted Mansion, as well as a raft full of people just arriving at Tom Sawyer Island (I assume they are arriving because they're all facing away from us). And you can see the Columbia making its way back toward its dock.

It's not often that you get a closeup of a popcorn machine! But that's the way we do things here at GDB.

  1. Mmmmm, the lid on the popper is up and the glass is all steamy....I can almost smell the popcorn. Hey, that wagon and it's vendor better be watching out for angry trees!

  2. The Cascade Peak Mine Train image is great, but I love the two popcorn vendor images. I don't think the food department cast members even dress that fancy anymore.

Anyone know what kind of plant/flower that is that runs along the river's shore?

  3. @ Ken-

Those flowers may just be yellow daffodils (Narcissus).

  4. I HAVE to assume that the popcorn vendor is also wearing red-and-white striped Raggendy Ann socks.

  5. @Nanook

Now that you've identified it, I can see it. Thanks!

  6. TokyoMagic!, the popcorn vendors in Frontierland received hazard pay due to killer trees and rabid raccoons.

    K. Martinez, I really do like that striped coat! Reminds me of Dick Van Dyke in “Mary Poppins”. I see that Nanook already has an answer for you regarding the yellow flowers.

Nanook (my spell-check keeps wanting to change “Nanook” to “Nano”), I didn’t know that daffodils and Narcissus were the same thing.

Melissa, you don’t even want to know about his underwear.

    K. Martinez, use this knowledge for good and not evil.

Major, I have always imagined you in a red-striped jacket and straw boater.

Either that, or a long blue frock coat with brass buttons...

    Cheers.
