Hooray for the Dumbo ride! That's right, I'm calling it a "ride" (not an "attraction"). Rules don't apply to me. You might not think that spinning around and around in a fiberglass elephant would be much fun, but it actually is! Especially if you are in charge of making him go up and down, which is the mostest fun ever. Mom and sis are certainly looking forward to it.
Wheee! What did I tell you? Actually, sis looks like she doesn't feel so good. Maybe spinning rides aren't her thing.
Major-
ReplyDeleteThe reason 'Sis" has that unhealthy look on her face is she finally took a serious gander at that outfit her Mom is wearing. Yeeessh... talk about 'too many colors/patterns'-! Sis was hoping a thrilling ride on the Dumbo attraction would help banish all thoughts of fashion "dont's". Evidently it didn't take.
Thanks, Major.
Great set today. Makes me feel like taking a spin on an elephant this morning. Afraid I'll have to settle for a bicycle.
ReplyDeleteFeeling unobservant here, but never noticed that yellow light pole in the background before. Was that night lighting for the Skull Rock eating area or Fantasyland in general?
I still say they could have cleaned up on those elephant hats.
ReplyDeleteI still enjoy an occasional ride on the world famous pachyderms.
ReplyDeleteI remember at one time the "attractions" were referred to as "Adventures" or "Adventures & Attractions" on the old ticket books and booklet guides handed out at the gate. Now it's just "Attractions".
Nanook, we can't even blame the 70's yet for those loud colorful patterns! Mom liked to make fashion statements, I'll hand it to her.
ReplyDeleteChuck, when the cop asks you why you are riding your bike around and around in circles, and you tell him it's because you miss the Dumbo ride, I wish I could see the look on his face!
Melissa, I actually kind of like those hats!
K. Martinez, I wonder if they ever stated which thing was an "adventure" and which was an "attraction"? I assume that more involved things like the Jungle Cruise or maybe "Pirates" would be adventures.
When I was a kid (around the time of these pictures) we had a couch that looked like that jacket, yuk!
ReplyDeleteDumbo must have been big fun (fiberglass or not). Someone had one listed on ebay last year for 30 grand!
Major - I think it was interchangeable terminology like 'E' ticket vs. 'E' coupon. "Please tear out your 'E' coupon before you reach the operator".

Advaction? Attrenture?
ReplyDeleteA lot of room between Dumbo's back when there were only ten.
ReplyDeleteAlonzo, now that you mention it, I think we had an arm chair that had a big yellow and orange flower pattern.
ReplyDeleteK. Martinez, yeah, as you and I have noticed (mostly you!), they were pretty loosey-goosey with certain terms.
Melissa, I didn't know you spoke Italian.
Anonymous, the lucky thing about riding Dumbo is that you are almost never at the same level as the person in front of you, so it doesn't feel as if you are too crowded.
