Two Instamatics

Hey, how about some Instamatic photos for today? We'll start with this unusual view taken from the Tomorrowland Autopia - presumably "Mr. X" was just about to board his groovy automobile, but he took a quick photo looking back at the yellow Monorail waiting at the station. A turquoise-colored Peoplemover train sits nearby, empty (and possibly idle).

This next picture was almost certainly taken nearly 45 years ago, but the Matterhorn still sports this same sign, featuring a young man and his alpenhorn. Why isn't he wearing lederhosen? Talk about a lost opportunity. Also, does anybody suddenly feel the need for a Ricola throat lozenge? I like how the curly wrought-iron is slightly angular for a more stylized appearance.

What can I say about the first picture but WOW. Santa Fe sponsored monorail yellow, teal peoplemover and a babushka wearing Autopia driver. This one just says "It's a happy day!"

Fyi, I always feel the need for a Ricola. Thanks Major.

And big thanks go to Mr. X as well. My bad.

OMG, I've seen a Monorail, a Peoplemover train, and Autopia cars all in the same shot, but never all empty before! Look at all that potential vroom just waiting to be enjoyed!

I think there's actually a person sitting on the left-hand side of the far right visible car of the Peoplemover. He's hard to see because he's blending into the shadows and holding really still. It's his only defense against predators.

I was surprised as well that the guy on the Matterhorn sign isn't wearing lederhosen...and surprised again this morning to learn that, according to Wikipedia at least, lederhosen "were not usually worn in southwestern Germany or Switzerland" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lederhosen). They are, however, extremely popular on Klingon, where they are traditionally served as a breakfast garnish.

Breakfurg, the world's best place and home of Hans Strudel is the lederhosen wearin' capital of the world. Toaster Strudel, Ya?

Alonzo, I think it's ironic that both you and I enjoy seeing the Santa Fe logo, and yet I sure don't get the same "warm fuzzies" when I see the sponsors of attractions today. What does it mean? And yes, Mr. X rules.

Melissa, this was right after the first zombie war, don't forget….

Chuck, I can't tell if that really is a person or if it is just a combination of blobs that *resembles* a person. A lot of Mr. X's photos show the Peoplemover just before it opened, so I kind of think this might be one of those. Also, I need to wear more leather pants.

K. Martinez, mmmmm, strudel.

Am I seeing two different styles/models of Autopia cars sitting there?

I buy all my LED's from Bob's. He has the best LED shop on the Matterhorn.

TokyoMagic!, yes, there are two different models of Autopia cars! I've seen that before with earlier photos in which you can see Mark IV's and Mark V's in the same picture.

Melissa… it took me a minute to "get it" until I looked at the picture again!
