Around Frontierland - August 13, 1960

The little Mine Train had just reopened in May with the beautiful "Nature's Wonderland" additions. The trains changed from dark green to a bright yellow - I love both colors, but there is something so cheerful about the yellow. Here's a great shot of the train as it passes one of the waterfalls that tumbled from the side of Cascade Peak.

Nearby, the Columbia is full up. Who knew so many people would be willing to circumnavigate the globe? I guess they like hard biscuits and plenty of weevils.

Any day featuring the Mine Train Thru Nature's Wonderland is a good day, indeed. (Especially when decorated with gay red, white and blue bunting-!)

I'm guessing the Columbia musta felt a "bit naked", being forced to set sail without any special banners to brighten things up.

Thanks, Major.

Weevils wobble, but they don't fall down!

Weevils.
Now I'm going to be thinking about weevils all day.
Boll weevils. Alfalfa weevils. Pepper weevils. Pantry weevils. Rice weevils. Bean weevils.

My favorite...

Bunting makes me smile anytime. :-) Like now!

Bunting is an underrated skill. Sure you want to advance the runner but if you can beat out the throw to first it's even better.

Nanook, the bunting must have been for the 4th o' July. And if so, it does seem like the Columbia should have some patriotic decor… wonder why it was skipped.

TokyoMagic!, as a kid I spent hours playing with weevils.

Bill, "Evel Weevil"… you and Melissa should team up!

Nancy, it does look festive; now that we have Christmas and Halloween decorations for half the year, I guess the patriotic bunting is the only other holiday stuff we need.

Alonzo, I was never good at bunting. I would either foul out or the ball would go right to the pitcher.

Do you not know that in the service one must always choose the lesser of two weevils?

"Weevil be to he who thinks it."

Mine Train and Cascade Peak - always a great pair to make a photo a keeper.

I prefer my hardtack with weevil, a toothsome variation on an otherwise dull diet.

More Weevil!

For all the little weevils out there, this one's for you.

That's quite a family resemblance on the four ladies in front of the Columbia.

Beautiful shot of the falls with the train.
