It's a Small World, 1966

Man oh man, there is no shortage of pictures showing the exterior of It's a Small World. There really was nothing like it at the time... it makes me think of paper sculptures and pop-up books, and even the gold-paper filigree that you might find on antique valentines.

Topiaries. Tapioca. Tapotio. Tippi Hedren.

  2. I've loved this ride since the moment I first saw it. I treasure the photo that my husband took of me the day we left CA - I'm standing in front of the topiary moose with my Indiana Jones hat (moving to Indiana, my maiden name was Jones, get it?). We had to buy hats because it was near 100 degrees that day - our last day in CA before we moved here to the Heartland :) Plus my husband's original hat fell off inside the Matterhorn and they BOUGHT HIM A NEW ONE (and I had to match :)

  6. Nanook, I think I've started something here! What exactly, I don't know. If only I can turn it into millions.

Debbie V, that's a good one! Meanwhile, very cool that the folks at the park actually got your husband a new hat to replace the lost one.

    K. Martinez…. "Tip Tap & Toe"? I like Toe Tags though!

Bill, Tonto is now officially a Disney character thanks to the upcoming Lone Ranger movie.

Alonzo, I feel like we are in an episode of The Electric Company!

  8. K. Martinez -

Aha-! Pretty swell. It's kinda like the Nicholas Brothers (+1), without all the acrobatics.

    Thanks.

  9. K. Martinez, thanks for the link... tap dancing must be an American art form, you never think of Europeans doing it!

Nanook, I also thought of the Nicholas Brothers, who I learned about when I saw "That's Entertainment!" when I was a kid.
