This first photo almost looks like an "Oops, I didn't mean to push the button" picture. Or else the guy was really amazed by that quality thatched roof - something you don't see every day. Unless you live in Tahiti. Anyway, it's the Adventureland Bazaar, where you can buy a woven handbag in which to carry your chihuahua.
I don't know about you, but I go to Disneyland for the drinking fountains. The fact that there are rides there is just icing on the cake.
That second photo's the first one that's ever made me really focus on the beauty of those parallel lines of trees going down Main St. Usually, my mind seems to tune them out as I look at the buildings.

ReplyDeleteI used to enjoy shopping at the Adventureland Bazaar, but sadly it seems to have become another victim of "One Disney".
I too used to love this area. So unique in it's theme. But sadly with the addition of Indy and today's crowds all I ever think of this path is avoid it at all costs unless your going on Indy or Jungle Cruise. Sad.

K. Martinez, I definitely miss the days when you would find unique items not only for Disneyland, but actually made for specific lands. I guess that it's not possible to do that now the there are so many other Disney parks.
Alonzo, if you can go in the off season, Adventureland can still be a fairly mellow experience.

Okay - this is totally off topic but I know I can get my answer here :) Am I dreaming that inside the diorama or whatever the dark area is called on the Disneyland Railroad - there is or used to be a diorama of Epcot? Iam doubting my 50+ year old memories now.

ReplyDeleteDebbie V., I believe that what you are thinking of is the view of "Progress City" that you could see from the Peoplemover as it passed through the top floor of the Carousel of Progress/America Sings building. Progress City is generally acknowledged to be an inspiration for Epcot and reflected Walt's growing interest in improving city living and transportation. Thanks for the nice compliment, too!
