Tomorrowland, June 1969

Why are these people just standing around like shmoes when they should be enjoying the Carousel of Progress, the original Submarine Voyage, the Skyway, the Peoplemover, Adventure Thru Inner Space, Flight to the Moon, and Circlevision? Those attractions won't be there forever! Get a move on!!

That's right,  brave li'l submarine, we loved you just the way you were.

  1. The PeopleMover vehicles are hiding behind the monorail beams today.

  2. How sad is it that only one of those seven attractions you mentioned still exists....and only as a faint shadow of what it once was?

  3. Is that a man wearing a blue shirt and a skirt in the first pic.
If not that woman is in need of Nair hair remover.

  4. Scott, That's just sideburns lady from "The Wedding Singer" spending a youthful day at the park.

If the big seven (listed above) were all still there I would never leave t-land. I would just call home once in a while on the big speaker phones AT&T had in front of the Circlevision theatre.

  5. K. Martinez, never fear, I have some great Peoplemover photos for you; you might have to wait a bit, but they are coming!

TokyoMagic!, I know... even as I was typing them it was hard for me to believe that they were all (mostly) gone.

scott8637, ha ha! I did not even notice that person. Let's call him/her "Pat"!

Alonzo, if those attractions were still in Tomorrowland, I would be so damn happy!

  6. That was Schmoe Day '69. Once a year, they would offer a special discount admission to all the schmoes of Southern California. Of course, they all insisted on paying full price anyway, because they were schmoes.

  7. Perhaps they had all just finished enjoying said attractions, and were standing around discussing how sad it would be if they were taken out.

Some times it's good to schmoe around laggardly just to let the joy of the day soak in good.

  8. they cant decide which one....how could that be? I ride my favorites as many times as I possibly can in the short time I get to be there.

  9. ... and then there were none. This is how "Tomorrowland" became the "DisneyDesert".

  10. If I could be in Disneyland at any time it would be 1969. Right as the Haunted Mansion was opening of course... but I'd really spend most of my time in this relatively new Tomorrowland. If only those people knew how jealous I am of them. Anyway. *Pout.

  11. If those shmoes would have only known that the Peoplemover was living on borrowed time, they would have enjoyed the moment much more. Well...not actually borrowed time. I guess the Peoplemover would still be with us for another 26 years.

They were probably arguing about which attraction to go on. After all, with all those choices, and a limited number of tickets in their books, decisions in large families can be arduous.

This is why I hate going to Disneyland with more than one other person: the arguments! Often, I prefer to go alone, and never argue at all, and go on just what I like.
