Today I am happy to present some photos that were sent to me by GDB reader Doug, whose family visited Disneyland in the summer of 1965.
There's Doug on the left, with his brother John next to him. This is a great shot of the Mickey Mouse flower portrait, with the added bonus of the Disneyland Railroad in front of Main Street Station.
I know I often gripe about the sameness of pictures taken at the old Indian Dance Circle in Frontierland; but this photo is extra nice, as it was taken at the end of the performance, when children were invited to participate! Looks like there were a LOT of kids there on that June day. Some fun, for sure!
Another great photo, with Doug, his mom, and his brother all posing with the Chief. See the ticket books sticking out of their pockets? Check out the Chief's rainbow shirt! Grooooovy.
Tomorrow we'll see part two of Doug's photos; MANY THANKS to him for sharing!!
Thanks Doug!
ReplyDeleteA peach of a dance circle pic, puts you in the fun. :)
Is that woman in the background of the Dance Circle pic wearing a purple boa? A lei?
ReplyDeleteGreat pics! Thanks to Doug for sharing them with us!
^ Definitely a purple lei, TM. Probably came all the way from a bazaar in Adventureland.
ReplyDeleteWell Chiana, it certainly is bizarre! Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk!
ReplyDeleteso nice! Love a sunny day and looking foward to more from this trip. Thanks, Doug, for sharing your memories with us :--)
ReplyDeleteGreat pics, Doug! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLike the Santa Fe logo in the first image. In the second image it looks like Castle Rock and Columbia in the backdrop. The purple ostrich feather seems to have made an appearance again having traveled in time from 1968 to 1965. That’s a great family photo in the third. Great smiles.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing Doug!
Thank you Doug. Looks like you had a good time. I went there the same year, my pics are black and white.

VERY cool, indeed!!!
ReplyDeleteNice pics, Doug. Seems older brother John was the rebel of the family, dressed almost like it was today (except his pants would be hanging on his rear end now. But I love the hat).
ReplyDeleteCan't wait until tomorrow.
He was the cool one..even wore Converse runners way back then. I, on the other hand, was going for the junior accountant look.
