It's A Small World, June 1968

Here are four more photos from somebody who really loved "It's a Small World"!

When you are one of the Three Little Pigs, you are used to adoration and stardom. It just comes with the territory. Which piggy is this? The "Piper Pig"? Or the "Fiddler Pig"? Either way, that young girl is thrilled! Meanwhile, check out the guy who has completely unbuttoned his shirt. Thank goodness for t-shirts! I'll bet he wishes he had a cold can of Pabst Blue Ribbon.

The Big Bad Wolf has mellowed since 1933. Now he loves kids, especially when they are fricasseed. The older of the two boys notices that the wolf is covered in the same shag carpeting that can be found in his front hallway.

I hope that Apple sponsors "It's a Small World" and that the façade is changed to a smooth, glossy white rectangle!

Did you know that topiaries contain NO tapioca?

It's the Fiddler Pig – the same one who was curiously absent from the group on the lenticular postcard badge in yesterday's post.

@ Pete: well he didn't want to be seen as hogging the scene.....

@ Maj: NO tapioca!? Next you'll be trying to say they're just a load of shrubbery.

I think the boy in the second picture is trying to persuade the Wolf to trade pants with him.

Pegleg Pete, due to exposure to gamma radiation, the Fiddler Pig is invisible on lenticular postcards. And he turns into The Incredible Pork when angered!

Chiana (hi Chiana!), "hogging the scene", OUCH. And the topiaries are a steaming pile of shrubbery. (Ewwww).

Melissa, ha ha! I don't think I want to see the wolf in that little boy's plaid shorts!

Connie, don't laugh, it could happen!

Wow. Pegleg Pete, your powers of observation and your knowledge of Disney pigology are both to be commended.

Actually, the older boy saw a thorn in BBW's arm, pulled it out, and they've been pals ever since.

As for a cold can of Pabst, I could use one myself right about now (and my shirt isn't even unbuttoned).

It really can happen, it already starts with the trademark lowercase "i"! iT's A Small World, presented by Apple. The children of the world can all be listening to the tune on their iPods and FaceTiming each other. A little more plussing can't hurt, right?

Nancy, I am the same way; I love that façade!

RemainSeatedPlease, I recently brought some fancy-schmanzy beer to a party. People tasted it, made a face, and sent somebody out for a case of PBR. Humiliating.

Hannahx2, now that Apple is the richest company in the world (announced in the news today), they can pretty much do whatever they want!

I was going to guess fiddler pig too, but a day late. Sigh. I guess all the pigs survived by running into the House of Bricks, so they're all friends now.

I guess if the wolf dragged him out by the feet, he would have pulled pork.

IASW is really wonderful. I could look at it for hours, and these are great shots.

Major, I did some lookup, Mary Blair did the conceptual design for the facade, as she did for the interiors. Renderings are for sale in the Disney Gallery now. But you are correct too, I believe that Rollie Crump was in charge of the realization of the design, including the various whirligigs and spinners that animate the facade, as well as the clock, which was not in the Blair sketches.

The beauty of it is, that everyone is right, and it is a Small World After All.

Sorry about the beer story, that's just rude. Beer and pork go well together.
