Souvenir Dungeon - Monorail tote bag
It's been a while since we've visited the Souvenir Dungeon, so let's take the worn stone steps down, down, down! Igor (the bat) will accompany you.
Here's one of my favorite items (I say that a lot, I know), a small vinyl "travel tote" - much like the cool bags carried by stewardesses on airplanes back in the 1960's. Only this one is even better because it shows the Disneyland/Alweg Monorail! The bag is about 7 inches long and 4 inches high (not including the handles), so it's just about big enough to carry a can of Fresca and a few Space Food Sticks.
These two kids are practically silhouettes, but you can still see that the boy is proudly carrying his very own Monorail tote! (Picture circa September 1961). Presumably he just bought it in Tomorrowland.
That is one big bulky camera. He should go digital, it's so convenient! His Monorail bag still has the price tag on it, which will add to the value when he puts it on ebay 40 years later.

I want one!!!
me too!!
I've seen these on Ebay for big $$$, I never knew it was actually so small - its cute, I want one too!!! Nice job with the photo, looks like a catalog picture!
Yes, only ones I have seen where on ebay as well and I agree; seeing in the hand of the child for reference, the size is concerning. However, place me in the @TokyoMagic and @Nancy camp:
"I want one!"
I lucked out with this tote bag, and got it for a reasonable price. Ever since then, the examples that I've seen on ebay do tend to go for more than I would want to pay!
It would be cool if they had made a larger version - maybe big enough to actually use as an airplane carry-on!
Make that "50 years later". Looks like a Brownie camera to me but that was a long time ago.
Maj, will you tell Igor to stop accompanying me? It would cramp my social life if I ever get one. I would have to stick around Goths. I want to sing in the sunshine, and wave my arms happily with the monorail tote bag in hand.
Anon, I'm sure that camera is one of the many varieties of "Brownies" that Kodak made.
Chiana, Igor is a friendly fellow, but don't worry, when the sun rises, he will return to his crypt.
Aw. Your dungeon is the best. Even your vampire bat is nice. :)
You can't go wrong with a good accessory. haha. -Stelle
