Look at the happy families in this photo, they look like they're dressed up for Sunday dinner (at the Mrs. Knott's chicken restaurant, of course). The girl to the right is skipping happily (or spastically?)! Imagine being at Knott's on a pleasant day as the sun sets, exploring the ghost town and all of its wonders while waiting for your table (the wait could be hours). No wonder people flocked there in spite of the crowds! Meanwhile, they obviously hired Alfalfa to paint the sign on that conestoga wagon. He never could remember which way an "S" or an "N" was supposed to go.
Hmmmm.........seals at Knott's : They should have had to wear little cowboy hats!!!
ReplyDeleteBTW: I just finished posting the last og a six part AMERICA SINGS MEGA post over at TOMORROWLOUNGE BLOG.
Seals at Knott's? That's about as weird as the dolphins back in the 70's or early 80's. I saw 'em with my own eyes! Neato pics, Major.
ReplyDeleteConnie, the dolphin show was added to the Roaring 20's area in 1986 and shared their arena with the Diving Doggies (separate show). Yeah, both were a weird addition and didn't last too long.
ReplyDeleteMike, I will have to go over and check out your mega America Sings posts!
ReplyDeleteConnie and TM!, I never knew there was a dolphin show at Knott's... weird.

ReplyDeleteThank you for the link to that article, Anon. It makes me sad to think that all of that history will be disbursed; if only there was a place where fans could go to see it! I'm glad that Chris Jepsen managed to get a load of material for the O.C. Archives.
ReplyDeleteSeals are weird. End of story. People are fascinated by them, and penguins too.
ReplyDeleteVery strange.
And what's with all that French talk, eh?
JG
What? Seals are cool! Penguins too, but I think most people like them because they are cute.
ReplyDeleteFrench talk? Whu??
