1960 Fantasyland

Only two so-so photos today, from slides that had turned to cough-syrup pink.

Those crazy teacups just keep on spinning. It's a metaphor for life. Which is always a good thing to say when you don't have anything smart to interject.

Casey Jr. chugs through Storybook Land; as many times as I've seen similar views, it still kind of surprises me to see Disneyland's border so much further in than it is now.

  1. Actually, I like the weird pastels in the first photo -- colors nobody in his right mind would dream up.

BTW, Somebody should tell that girl that "stop, drop, and roll" is really intended for school, not the teacups. Disneyland is not under nuclear attack.

  2. Hey, I LIKE these photos, obviously taken from the SkyWay...or maybe somebody floating through the air. Ya, that's it. Anyway, I dig 'em!

  3. I think that girl might be trying to protect the other teacups from spewage.

  4. I also notice that in the teacup to the left of the girl laying down it appears a young man is about to be sick!

I also like seeing the Mickey Mouse Theater in the background.

  5. LOL "Spewage". Do you think those candy stripes on the platform were done to camouflage the spirals of vomit?

  6. Seriously, I did wonder if the girl laying down in the teacup was getting sick, but I didn't see any blur lines to show the ride was actually in motion.

  7. It looks like there might be a second girl laying down in that same tea cup...unless those are packages or purses, but I think I can make out an "ear" and some "hair."

I love that tea cup pic with the various rider techniques: Lay down (second from right, bottom), cover your eyes (far left), lean back (middle), maximum torque (third from top, right), “not too fast please” (bottom middle) and my personal favorite – solo crank! (third from top middle) .

  9. Ha ha, I think it's funny that the teacups makes people think of nausea! I have to admit that the last time I was on it, I spun it so fast that my girlfriend got mad at me.

I have to admit that a few people (particularly that girl) look kind of "pukey"!!

  10. Looking at the tea cups, I don't think I ever realized how many plain cups there were. It seems that each disc had three decorated and three plain cups.

Bottom right disc, left cup (plain), there is a young child that seems to have their head pinned against the rim of the cup.

That reminds me of the time, back when I was a young child, that my aunt had taken me on the Tea Cups. The ride starts up and my aunt is turning the center disc and we are spinning fast. I didn't listen to the instruction of keeping your head tilted forward and as I leaned back, my head was instantly forced to the rim of the cup and I coulnd't move.

But do you think my aunt would ease up on spinning the cup, nope! All I can remember is laughing because no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't budge

  11. I have never been ill on the teacups, but I think the pink tone was probably Pepto-Bismol.

    Sorry.
