You might as well skip this blog today. I'm serious. Go ahead, I won't take it personally.
Still here? Well OK, don't say I didn't warn you. Here we are, in our luxurious Skyway bucket, looking through the Pirate Ship's tangle of masts, spars and ropes. There are no sails in this picture... those things must have rotted away in no time. Anyway, you can see the patchwork quilt of Storybook Land below, with Cinderella's castle to the left.
The most interesting thing in this picture is what is beyond the berm. Lots of weed-filled fields, a few outbuildings, and then a number of prefab warehouse-type structures which I can only assume were Disney-owned. Who knows what wonders went on in those modest buildings!
We just sailed over Snow Hill - and if you'd seen what I'd seen, Heavens to Betsy I'd dare say they're probably not even married yet - and a few wonders at work in and/or around those buildings might include some preliminary bits for Snow Hill's replacement. Or maybe some bits hanging on a wooden rack that looks suspiciously like neon seaweed, now what ever use could that be for. Most likely though, someone is walking by with something to clean up after a very big animal that hauls a trolley up and down Main Street. :)
ReplyDeleteDidn't your mamma ever tell you there'd be days like this? "Sonny, some days you just won't think your blog offerings are exciting." You're just jaded though; if I ever found a color slide like these I'd be smilin'. :)
Now wait just a dog gone minute...whoever took that first photo must have had a zoom lens because the Skyway buckets never went that close to the pirate ship! Pretty cool shot, though.
ReplyDeleteI was trying to visualize the backstage area from the deep dark recesses of my memory banks and I could swear that some of those building look like buildings that are still there. However... could that even be possible? Looking at that backstage area you try to superimpose Small World and Toon Town and it looks like all that space would have been used up.
I'm still here! Of course I'm the guy that looks directly into the eyes of Mara!
ReplyDelete2nd shot, cool back stage and neat ticket booth rooftop!
dont know why anyone would NOT want to take a ride on the skyway....
ReplyDeleteill watch my step when exiting the bucket... :D
Wait, wasn't the 'Light House' the ticket booth back there? I am confused, as always it seems.
ReplyDeleteHaha, well you guys are too kind. I guess it's more that these are so similar to many previous photos - not so much that they are bad.
ReplyDeleteThufer, the Light House ticket booth would be just out of frame to our left, near Monstro.
So close...so close...
