Fun With Double Exposures, 1957
AAAARGH! No, I'm not playing pirate, I'm expressing my frustration with today's double exposure. Our photographer stood in roughly the same spot and took two photos on the same frame of film. Malfunctioning camera? Bad juju? Anyway, inn one photo the Disneyland Railroad is passing by, with one of the "cattle cars" visible just in front of the caboose. The other showed the back of the Viewliner, stopped as a load of passengers climbs aboard. Of all the pictures to be cursed with a double exposure, why did it have to be this one?

I'm confused as to where this was taken. It looks like it's in the back part of Tomorrowland near the berm, but was there a Viewliner station back there? The engine of the DL train is also visible....strange, but wonderful!
ReplyDeleteAh, the Viewliner seems to be as elusive as the Ivory-Billed Woodpecker. Sightings are often rare and obscured!

There is a path that goes behind Snow Mountain, at which point you would have been near where the train tracks and Viewliner tracks ran parallel (I think). If I'm wrong, please chime in, readers!
The location is correct (back of Tomorrowland) - but my guess is that the people you see are not waiting to load, but rather are standing in the open air cattle car as it passed that point (note attached caboose). Two cents.
