This blog has nothing to do with gorillas (though I love 'em)...fellow bloggers have inspired me to share vintage images of Disneyland from my personal collection. But don't be surprised if you see something from a World's Fair, Knott's Berry Farm, or someplace else that is cool!

Tomorrowland 1960
I was feeling lazy, so there's only one photo in today's post. But I think that you'll agree, it's super nice! Our photographer has walked partway into Tomorrowland, and paused to snap a photo of this beautiful scene. The Moonliner is almost perfectly centered, pointed towards a vivid blue sky. Various tropical plants soften what would otherwise be a somewhat sterile land - it's nice to know that we'll still have bird of paradise plants in 1980! The Hat Bar is just visible, as is the Flight Circle, where a show appears to be in progress.
If it has to be just one pic, then make it a super nice one. Everyone looks so happy, and why shouldn't they? The future of the past is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThat is a wonderful picture.
ReplyDeletewow, this is just gorgeous... definitely postcard-worthy :D
ReplyDeletethanks, Major!
THIS IS MAJOR "MAJOR" AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteSuper nice, indeed! Beutiful blue sky too.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo! It's the Tomorrowland I remember. 1960 was really the best year there. Everything seemed to come together in Tomorrowland. The plants were full, the trees gave shade (finally), and everything sparkled. And to top it off; 1960 was one of the great weather years in California. Clear skies, and a good amount of rain to make it just right.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed reading your blog! I am a fellow Disney fanatic. :)

What a lovely day at a wonderful place. Great timing on the pic too, nice lighting from the afternoon sun. The quality of a postcard shot with the people interest of a casual shot = desktop. :)
