Here's a nice look at Tomorrowland in a photo taken from the hub. There's the Avenue of Flags, and plenty o' attraction posters. The Clock of the World (was it powered by atomic energy?), America the Beautiful, and Monsanto's Hall of Chemistry are also visible.
You sharp-eyed viewers may have noticed something unusual in this photo...the short-lived Trash Can ride. Tear out one "A" ticket to enjoy a unique solo trek around Main Street while your attentive Sweeper entertains you with stories and fun facts! There were two load areas, one in front of Main Street Station, and the other seen here. This popular attraction was dropped after just a month due to unusually low capacity, but it is still a fond memory for a few lucky Disneyland visitors.
that, is a masterpiece!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHey, there's a rocket of some kind lifting off too.
ReplyDeleteYup, April Fool’s Day! Excellent Job, Major!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant!
ReplyDeleteI never got a chance to ride in the trash cans and envy those lucky few who did. I'm also glad to see someone finally caught a shot of the rocket ship actually lifting off. Now if we can just get one of the return landing...
THAT is the Damndest thing we ever saw! We can't stop laughing. The site of that tremendous exhaust cloud smothering park guests is priceless! Dude, you could sell these on eBay!
ReplyDeleteI remember the TWA rocket to the moon in the background. Wasn't it closed due to it's low capacity numbers? 4 guests every two days for a low orbit trip. The line was always really long. Fortunately on take off the people in the front of the line would be vaporized, and the lucky ones in the back would get to move up. Nice work Major...
ReplyDeleteMajor- I agree with Jordan- a masterpiece!
ReplyDeleteI love it!
ReplyDeleteCute, this tops Perky Pickle's 'Twain vs. Columbia picture from a while back.
ReplyDeleteI was there that day!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all of your nice comments, folks!

Lift Off
Puttting it all together.........
Priceless
Great work. wouldn't that be cool to incorporate into some vintage home movie film.....just a thought.
"Clearly a 'Major' malfunction..."
ReplyDeleteFar too cool!
ReplyDeleteDude! You’re so awesome! VERY well done, indeed!
ReplyDeleteIf you ever do a Disneyland Photoshop contest (and you need to), please let me know. I want in on the action.
Oh PS: I also really liked the collage you did featuring the Matterhorn as a center piece. I just didn’t comment on it. My favorite detail in that was the guy in the flying saucer looking at the little people in the Indian canoe. For some reason that particular little detail just really struck me.
