Nicer Snoozles™
Here are two Snoozles that are better than most - still flawed of course, but they have something to offer anyway. Let's start with this photo of the C.K. Holliday circa April 1958 - the locomotive is pulling into Tomorrowland Station. The berm kept giant moon cows away (always an issue). The "Fred Gurley" (No. 3) debuted on March 28, 1958 - just a month before this slightly-blurry photo was taken; I wonder if that has anything to do with the bunting seen on the side of the passenger cars?
Next is this July 1961 shot of the yellow Monorail as it zipped over the Sub Lagoon. It zipped so fast that it was mostly a blur! At least the nose area is in focus, I guess.

I suppose the berm works okay for keeping the Moon Cows out of the Park. But a better solution would be for Disney to hire a crew of Selenites to patrol the Park boundary and keep it free of those pesky Moon Cows. Either that, or just let the feral cats and Killer Swans do their thing.
It always seems strange to see saplings dotting the berm in these early photos. I do like the sparse look though. Maybe the picture isn't blurry at all; they just haven't worked all the kinks out of the new Trains yet.
Evidently, the back of the Monorail is moving faster than the front. That's the only explanation for the front being in focus, but not the back. Also, all those trees, shrubs, rocks, and Autopia cars are moving pretty fast as well! What is that blurry dark thing that looks like it's hanging down from the beamway on the left?
Maybe these photos should have been in your Blurzles folder, Major. If not for the blur, they would've definitely been ready for prime-time. Thanks.
@ JB-
"What is that blurry dark thing that looks like it's hanging down from the beamway on the left?"
Most-likely under-beamway spotlights for the Sub lagoon. LOOK HERE.
The bunting may also be for the debut of the Grand Canyon Diorama, which opened 31 March, 1958. Interesting that the Gurley began operating on a Friday while the diorama didn’t open until the following Monday. I guess the three trains must have all gotten backed up at Tomorrowland Station over the weekend. I hope they let passengers off for bathroom breaks.
Society owes a great debt to Disney for the reduction of the Moon Cow Menace even though their methods resulted in blurry trains. Look at the sparkling brass and gleaming fresh paint, definitely intimidating to lunar livestock.
I can see the familiar round Santa Fe logo (blurred of course) on the Monorail. This was a common sight on the various trains running through the San Joaquin Valley in my childhood. That bit of sponsorship went a long way to foster my belief that trains like that were only a short time in the future. Imagine my surprise now.
Thanks Major, I hope your jet pack and amphibious car are working as advertised.

Moon Cow. Isn't that that cookie thing with marshmallow in between like a sandwich? I think in the West we called them Scooter Pies...which today sounds kind of odd.....I digress. Today's "SALUTE TO RETLAW" is everything I've hoped for and more. The berm: looks like some rain got involved here, but the little "grass-lets" are soon to make there way through the soil to hold the berm up. I find the small trees charming, and although I very much enjoy a mature garden, it's nice to see the spartan start of the forest to come. When they went from these closed cars, to the open cars, I'm wondering if the people of the day referred to that as "TRE"? or was it "WRE" (Walt ruins everything.). Could be a mixed bag. I'm not sure in today's Tomorrowland that those light standards are the same ones, but I like that they haven't changed the overall look of that station. A small nod to the "Erector Set" style 'ala Disneyland Hotel. The yellow Monorail is my favorite: I'm a big fan of yellow. Thanks for the trip to the "happy place" this morning Major!
The C.K. Holiday at the Tomorrowland Station and Monorail Gold gliding over the Submarine Lagoon. What a perfect pair of trains where the past and future meet. Love the barren berm. Thanks, Major.
Nanook, by golly, that dark blurry thing does indeed look like one of those under-mounted spotlights. Thanks for the pic! And it'll only cost Major $50! ;-D
