More Matterhorn, November 1975

Our Peoplemover-riding photographer went a little nuts as he passed by the Carousel Theater and above the Skyway (how often do you get to be above the Skyway?) and Autopia; this first photo is very much like a pair that I posted less than a week ago. Somehow I think you'll be able to handle it though. I BELIEVE IN YOU.

Well, there it is, colorful Skyway buckets and race cars, a blue, blue sky, and a snow-capped mountain. I'd like to know why they have that little green construction barrier, and I'd like to know NOW. Guess I'll go complain at City Hall, they'll do anything to make me go away.

Say, maybe our photographer had one-a them fancy-shmantzy zoom lenses, just like the paparazzi that is always camped outside my estate. Those vultures! One time I caught some guys taking my garbage and dumping it into a large blue truck. When I confronted them they told me it was "trash day", but they weren't fooling me!

  1. Major-
I'm certain our photographer gained his altitudinal status through the use of the first - and very long - 'selfie stick', flipped-around. (I hope he [or she] filed for an early patent). Either way, these are fine images of our 'favorite' Matterhorn.

    Thanks, Major.

  2. The green construction barrier is there because they were adding Nemo and friends to the Submarine lagoon. I know it is 1975, but I still believe that is what's happening in that pic. It could also have something to do with EVERYONE'S favorite parade, "America On Parade." Didn't that parade begin in the summer of 1975 and run for over a year? (Just disregard the fact that the parade never even entered Tomorrowland.) If the construction doesn't have anything to do with either one of those things, then I think it has something to do with "I Love Lucy." ;-)

  3. TokyoMagic!, I thought the green construction barrier had to do with "The Happiest Millionaire".

  4. I love the second pic for the view t of the Skyway going through the Matterhorn. It's not like that anymore, unfortunately. Thanks, Major.

  5. Ken, I believe you just hit the nail on the head! That does appear to be Lesley Ann Warren standing in the planter, underneath the palm tree.

  6. Well, I for one always got to go above the Skyway on my many jetpack flights over Disneyland.

I genuinely laughed at the "paparazzi/garbage man" quip!

  7. Well, there seems to be water on the other side of the green barrier. Clearly, Tonorrowland is sinking.

Everyone, thank you for the laughs today! (and always!)

Major, these are great pictures, thank you!

  9. I've said it before, I'll keep saying it, Peak Disneyland right here.

That second photo is brilliant, clear view right straight through the Mountain Nostrils.

Come for the pictures, stay for the comments.

Keep them coming, Major, we are tough enough to take it.

  10. Those pesky paparazzi, they won't leave me alone either. I love both of these images, and look, the Green Machine in the station. Keep 'em coming Major. Try wearing a Groucho nose and mustache, fools 'em every time!

  11. Well, it's a peak at Disneyland. A peek at a peak at Disneyland.

  12. What about a Disneyland geek who's past their peak?

  13. Nanook, don’t be silly, the photographer was obviously walking around on stilts that were 30 feet long. As one does.

TokyoMagic!, by golly, I’m sure you’re right! I originally composed today’s post weeks ago, and since then, GDB readers have observed that the Subs appeared to be closed, so I’m sure that construction barrier has something to do with that. Of course Lucy Ricardo got into all sorts of monkeyshines, maybe it was her fault after all.

    K. Martinez, Fred MacMurray was walking his pet alligators at the time!

    K. Martinez, I sort of like the first pic better because you get more of the “big picture”, and I always enjoy seeing the Skyway get smaller and smaller as it gets closer to the Matterhorn.

TokyoMagic!, I would be happy to see Lesley Ann Warren any time.

Penna. Andrew, jetpack is the smart way to travel anywhere, unless you are in Scotland and like to wear a kilt.

stu29573, I believe that this photo is from the brief period when Disneyland had a pond filled with vodka. It seemed like a good idea to somebody.

Lou and Sue, you are welcome!

JG, when going through the nostrils, please be sure to avoid any stalactites. Just saying. I think there are about a dozen more photos from this fun Tomorrowland lot.

Jonathan, they probably want to sell your images to the Illuminati and the National Enquirer! I’ve tried wearing a trench coat and a “Lone Ranger” mask, but somehow that gets me even MORE attention.

Melissa, as long as it isn’t pique Disneyland.

    K. Martinez, um, er... fleek?

  14. Major-

Just so long as you don't peek over the peak with piqued interest - otherwise the effect of peeking may affect your psyche, effecting a negative affect. Whew-!

  15. I love it when you all get the joke.

We were all so busy looking at the Horn That Matters, we didn't notice that Monorail Green is still loading. These shots must have been all taken within moments of one another. Just So Cool.

Major, I can scarcely wait to see more of this lot.
