Jungle Cruise Critters

It's Sunday, and you know what that means... it's a boring post on ol' GDB. They can't all be winners.

We're deep into the darkest jungle on a nameless river, completely cut off from civilization. I'm already sizing up the other guests in the boat, in case we need to eat somebody. To our left we suddenly see a huge African elephant! I can't tell if this is the mother in-law or not. We must have surprised the pachyderm while he (she?) was noshing on those sweet Valencia oranges nearby. It is a relief to know that this elephant won't get scurvy.

You know what the worst animal in Africa is? The rhinocerworst! They're near-sighted, short-tempered, and kind of smelly too. And yet... I love them.

So - are those oranges or lemons or perhaps grapefruits hanging about in that tree-? Sunkist, I presume.

    Thanks, Major.

  2. It looks like there is another orange tree (or two) in that second pic. I don't remember previously seeing pics of orange trees within the Jungle Cruise's landscape. Or am I just not remembering them?

Nanook, we can take the wood from the trunks and branches of those orange trees and build ourselves a Sunkist Citrus House.

  3. Nah! These are winners! At least in my book they are, because it's my favorite Walt era attraction. Thanks, Major.

Nanook & TM!, I'm more of a Welch's man myself. It's off to Fantasyland for me, but I just have to figure if I like my juice white, red or purple.

    Purple, purple, purple!
    It tastes so neat
    It's nearly sweet
    And good as maple slurple!

Nice photos of the big folks stomping grounds...

  5. Nanook, like I said, I’m pretty sure those are oranges!

TokyoMagic!, I am reasonably sure I’ve pointed out orange trees in the Jungle Cruise before. Please check your “GDB” journals!!

    K. Martinez, yum, grape juice.

Patrick Devlin, did you make that up, or is it an old jingle??

  6. I made it up except the phrase "maple slurple" is from some ancient Smothers Brothers routine.

Smothers Brothers. That accounts for it. My wife uses the same joke phrase when discussing pancakes etc. I thought she made it up.

Major, fun stuff. I'm guessing the orange trees are relics from the former occupants of the farmland?

Thanks everyone for the commentary, which is a substantial fraction of the enjoyment of GDB.
