Leftuggies Again

It's time for some more leftuggies - images that didn't quite make it into a regular post, but are still worth a look.

Yes, even this view of the Friendly Indian Village is nice, thanks to the fact that it's so darn old (probably 1956-ish). The Shiniest Boy in the World is not standing on that overturned canoe yet. Back in the good old days, the Disneyland Railroad track passed surprisingly close to the Village, right at the base of the berm.

The Flower Mart was a great place to pick up chicks. Except for the day this photo was taken! Just visible near that street lamp is the window dedicated to Walt Disney's grandson, Christopher D. Miller. Also notice the lady at the cash register, pretending to be busy.

This Peoplemover view is less than spectacular, but I love it just the same. I've always wondered if the track had a number or uphill and downhill sections in order to demonstrate the Peoplemover's potential use in real-world situations.

The People Mover looks like it's passing through Bavaria. That's such a neat shot.

The People Mover must return, I miss the movement on the upper levels of Tomorrowland. Bring back the People Mover! (But not with Pixar characters attached, please.)

  4. WEDWay, I agree with you - bring back the People Mover! Someone from the Disney company said that if it ever does come back, it's going to have to be changed due to more stringent building codes (or something). Much like the Alice in Wonderland attraction, I guess that somebody is worried about how to get guests safely down in case of an emergency.

They'd probably spoil it by adding handrails to the entire track, and would have to widen some of the clearances through the buildings, and the track itself, plus stairtowers all over the place in case of whatever. It worked fine for 28 years...

I have a feeling the Flower Mart was started because someone didn’t like the look of the rest rooms at the end of the little street. What a great idea to turn that area in to a Picture Spot.

The Peoplemover was a wonderful attraction. Riding it at night was an especially beautiful experience. Plus you got a free foot massage (via the moving ramp) as you road up to the boarding area.

  8. Yes, I am afraid that hand rails would almost certainly be added if a Peoplemover ever came back. There are zillions of roller coasters that don't have hand rails, why would the friendly Peoplemover require them?

SundayNight, I don't remember the foot massage from the moving ramp, but I do remember that unique "smooth but sometimes bumpy" sensation on the ride!

  9. the WEDWAY Peoplemover is my favorite ride at WDW Tomorrowland. they often let us do a re-ride b/c there isnt usually a line.

there is nothing like that sensation of suddenly flying along thru the World of Tomorrow when you first reach the end of the whatever-it's-called equivalent to the chain lift on a wooden roller coaster when you leave the station! we are very lucky to have it

i think that first pic would be a cool one for your miniature effect. it certainly looks like they were very high up when they took that one. of course, the telly poles sort of ruin the mood :(

thanks for a nice set! :D
