It looks like our photographer quickly turned around and snapped this photo as he/she headed towards the Skyway's Fantasyland chalet. Below us you can see lots of familiar features and attractions. I'd list them all, but I am very very lazy.

This blog has nothing to do with gorillas (though I love 'em)...fellow bloggers have inspired me to share vintage images of Disneyland from my personal collection. But don't be surprised if you see something from a World's Fair, Knott's Berry Farm, or someplace else that is cool!
Whew such a lot of filling in to do! It's amazing how much it developed from there.
ReplyDeleteDid the Main St vehicles go around the road to Tomorrowland or go between Main St and where we see them?
Two more wonderful Fantasyland shots! Wish I could step into these pics right now and go exploring!
ReplyDeleteCC: originally the Main Street buses etc went thru the hub, up the path between what is now Alice and the Matterhorn, made a U turn and came back down.
ReplyDeleteThe northern terminus and the exact rout seems to have changed slightly depending on how the walkways were configured that year (the area changed a lot)
Major, you always have the best shots of the pre-Matterhorn hill!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jason!
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you for the info, Katella Gate, I wouldn't have been able to answer Chiana's question.
Thanks Katella! There was an earlier post that showed the omnibus parked - full of guests but the driver absent! - right bout there and that was 1958 or 59 cause Alice was new. So, I tink you're right and that pic & this must show where they stopped. I was curious though since it looks like they sure could have just cruised on along that street into TL.
ReplyDeleteI never knew the vehicles went anywhere other than Main Street. And look at the backside of the original Fantasyland attractins building - not much there, just a flat roof. Of course, I don't know what I was expecting to see.
