I'd like to say that my sister and I were kidnapped by the 100 Acre Wood's kingmakers and forced into electoral servitude until our parents rescued us in a well-planned, tightly-executed raid on Pooh's remote, high-desert ranch, but that's probably not very accurate.

It was the last week of October of '76, and I remember the crowds were pretty thin overall. A cast member may have said something to our parents on the way in, or it may have been as simple as a sign that said "hey, parents - if you want your kid in a parade, show up at IASW at time x."

I remember being ushered backstage through the parade route gate to the right of IASW and standing for a while as the demonstrators, er, I mean marchers congregated. It was pretty exciting being backstage, even if everything we could see was also clearly visible from the train. I remember being able to see the sign down the road that said "Disneyland Naval Base" and asking a cast member if I could walk down just to see it and being gently told "no."

We were handed signs and balloons and told to wave at the crowd as we walked past. The Big Man (Pooh, not Clarence Clemons) arrived, the music started, a cast member took my sister's hand, the gates opened, and we became a(n exceptionally minor) part of Disneyland history.Chucknoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25922463.post-53001630761645790092013-06-02T22:35:18.136-07:002013-06-02T22:35:18.136-07:00Very very good, I constantly felt I was acquiring ...Very very good, I constantly felt I was acquiring killed in the evening, minimal traffic, poor conversions, I
assume it is because I wasn't increasing my bids?

Here is my website :: Online Dating free sitesAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25922463.post-74597740366638491832013-06-02T21:26:03.974-07:002013-06-02T21:26:03.974-07:00Anonymous is probably right about what's going...Anonymous is probably right about what's going on in photo #1, but if I didn't know better, I'd say it looks like Pinocchio just chucked his shoe at Honest John and hit him right in the...Snow White Archivehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04715594290214114608noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25922463.post-46349432401011756072013-06-02T17:59:53.332-07:002013-06-02T17:59:53.332-07:00Anonymous, thank you for your illuminating story, ...Anonymous, thank you for your illuminating story, it sure sounds like that is what was going on in photo #1. If the girl playing Pinocchio was in on the game and was OK with it, that's one thing. But if she wasn't, than it just sounds like the the other guy really was being a foul fellow.

K. Martinez, the best thing is that you could stand on the stone bench and see over the heads of everyone else! Plus... nobody behind you.

Chuck, how did you wind up in that parade? Were you chosen at random when your family entered the park? Did you enter a contest? Were you bitter that Pooh's campaign was ultimately unsuccessful?

Melissa, you would think that, by now, I would be sensitized to babushkas. I carried a "Win with Winnie" sign from IASW all the way to Town Square. It was a curiously-constructed sign that actually increased in mass the longer I carried it. I was dragging it by the time we reached the rally by the Main Street Depot.

Participants got a "Pooh for President" election poster to take home. Mine lived on the back of my bedroom door well into Reagan's first term. Wish I still had it. The guy who often portrayed John Worthington Foulfellow in the '70s had a gag wherein he'd "steal" items from the girl in the Pinocchio outfit and then try to hide among the crowd until our favorite puppet boy retrieved said item. It generally played out cuter than it sounds. I'm thinking he grabbed a shoe this time around, Hilarious, huh?!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
