This picture is a bit out of focus, but I decided to include it anyway. The Mine Train is still in its attractive dark-green color scheme; when it returned in 1960 as the "Mine Train Through Nature's Wonderland", it was painted a bright yellow.
This blog has nothing to do with gorillas (though I love 'em)...fellow bloggers have inspired me to share vintage images of Disneyland from my personal collection. But don't be surprised if you see something from a World's Fair, Knott's Berry Farm, or someplace else that is cool!

Frontierland Stuff, July 1 1959
Today's first photo offers a terrific glimpse at the loading area for the Conestoga Wagons and the Stage Coaches. It looks like both conveyances are under way for a thrilling ride through the Rainbow Desert. Just two and a half months later, both of these attractions were removed forever (the Pack Mules would remain until 1973).

This picture is a bit out of focus, but I decided to include it anyway. The Mine Train is still in its attractive dark-green color scheme; when it returned in 1960 as the "Mine Train Through Nature's Wonderland", it was painted a bright yellow.

That first image is fantastic. What a great view and great image. Kudo's to the photographer!
ReplyDeleteSo you don't see too many pics of the wagon / coach loading area with the Matterhorn in the distance eh? I like the two front horsies on the right, they have character. :)
ReplyDeleteNice horses. Happy Easter Major!
ReplyDeleteTruly Stunning!
ReplyDeleteNow the Matterhorn stands in for the snow-capped peaks of Colorado.
ReplyDeleteThey get a lot of mileage from a mountain that doesn't move.

Happy Easter everyone.
