Snoozles™

I have two Snoozles for you today, both a bit dark, though not a total loss. First up is a scan from April 1972, with what appears to be an "off the hip" shot of a Horse Drawn Streetcar. Am I crazy, or are there NO HORSES? That's a first. Were they standing nearby enjoying cigarettes? Guests are patiently waiting inside the streetcar, but four of them are going to have to get out and pull. It's not so much fun now, is it, chumps??

It's exactly one year later (down to the second), on April 1973, and we have a "too dark" photo of the Columbia as it glides mysteriously around the Rivers of America. "Mysteriously" because there are no sails - they're not even furled, they're just gone. Hey, there is a theme today! Maybe the horses took the sails?

Major-
That is quite the 'optical illusion' of invisible horses, but with careful studying, one can see 'ol Paint carefully being obscured by Mr. sweater vest, or just an ugly shirt-?

Thanks, Major.

Ah, Nanook….great observation re Ol’ Paint!
(”Background matching is perhaps the most common camouflage tactic. In background matching, a species conceals itself by resembling its surroundings in coloration, form, or movement. In its simplest form, animals such as deer and squirrels resemble the “earth tones” of their surroundings. Fish such as flounder almost exactly match their speckled seafloor habitats.”)

The horses are there. They're just using the invisible horses from outside the Haunted Mansion. Either that, or the guests have to use their feet like Fred Flintstone. But I bet you're right, the horses are on their cigarette break (union rules).
After zooming in a bit, the horses really are there; at least one of them anyway. Some of the guests are perfectly placed so as to hide the horse's legs. Like you said, the image is a little dark... and the horse is very dark. [Nanook got there first!]

So weird about the Columbia not having any sails at all. I wonder if any of the guests noticed, and asked a CM about it? CM, "Go away kid, ya bother me."

Nanook, I agree about that shirt/sweater.

Not bad, as Snoozles go. Just a little weird. Thanks, Major.

Maybe the Major really IS an AI.

Nanook, I guess I need to stop Blogging While Drunk?

Lou and Sue, we all know that horses can blend into their environments by manipulating their chromatophores. (I just wanted to say “chromatophores”).

JB, I admit to only looking at the thumbnails when I wrote this post (something I always swear I won’t do) but even looking at the larger image, it appears as if at least one horse is on the sidewalk? Well, time for another vodka and tonic!

Chuck, I will team up with my AI brethren and rule the world!

Snoozles are like a Twilight Zone episode...they all look normal...until...they don't. The horse is there of course, blending in. Anything can happen at Disneyland. No sails? Hmmmm....are they at the dry cleaners on State College and La Palma? They could be. Frankly, I think only the "us" of the world would notice. Odd though, for the year, when most things had to be Polly Perfect. Note that I see buttoned vests. Good job Gents. I also see "spats" in the distance. Spats were a check off box on the wardrobe cards. I think they look very jaunty on the "regular" Security costume. It could have just been lace up shoe. How wonderfully intentional. Are they spatted up now? Probably not. I think they are too busy following the likes of "me's" through the Park for hours...us "suspicious" types with our cameras pointed at street curbs and things. A TG told me that this was a "regular" habit...with a big "ugh". "Let people take pictures!". The trees in the Plaza are wonderful. Now living at Tony Baxters house I think. Olive trees last for hundreds of years, and although I would still like to see the "Walt" trees in the hub, I'm glad they found a nice warm home. They lovvveeee that dry sun! Thanks Major!

The "Horseless Streetcar" ride was not the best use of your A coupon.

The horse has a cloaking device. I thought at first that the streetcar was in the middle of the stream changing horses, but FDR is nowhere to be found.

That is an ugly sweater on that guy. My Dad had one much like it, same color too, mustard yellow. The panels on the front were suede, it was weird.

I’m sure the sails are at the cleaners. It makes sense to have professionals handle this, imagine the size of the ironing board needed. Don’t tackle this at home, or even backstage when you can get One-Hour Martinizing.

Thanks Major!
