Dumbo, 1962

The lines for the Dumbo attraction remain long over 50 years after it's debut; there's just something about riding a flying elephant! Here are three cute kids (the girl in the middle should be familiar by now) getting ready for takeoff. The boy has been caught with the same goofy expression that I seemed to have in many childhood photos. He's clutching his 10-adventure ticket book.

And here they come, not very high off the ground. Somebody pull back on the stick! In the background, the walls are covered in a fortune's worth of classic silkscreened attraction posters.

That's because he's with two, not one but two chicks. Yes hes goofy wid it!

Those two pics have such a fun feel, ah the simple joys. :)

Hey Major I noticed the line of phone booths in the background of the second photo. I wonder how long those lasted?

Wonderful shots. Poor kid, his dad didn’t opt for the 15 adventure ticket book. Sir, you missed out on real value!
Too true Matterhorn. You don’t see too many phone booths anymore. But Disneyland even had cool phone booths. Remember the "group" booths in the "new" Tomorrowland?

'ey Maj, isn't the girl in the center the same one as the smirking girl with the hot dog or whatever in a slide you posted a bit ago?

thanks, Major...these are really nice. Dumbo holds a special place for me in that it was my daughter Rachel's first ride ever at WDW when she was 4 and a half in May 1994....and now over 14 years later she is a CP there! : D

Where was the boy when the two girls were photographed on the raft to/from Tom Sawyer Island???

Tokyo, the boy was there on that raft, still smitten by his fun girlfriends and wearing the same dorky face hehe

Chiana, yes that is the same girl! She's been several photos now.

Tokyomagic, I don't know why the boy wasn't on the raft! I wondered the same thing.

Maybe the boy was afraid to get on the overloaded raft with all those strange people! The pajama girl probably scared him.
